Member Profile ~ Laura Green

Laura Green enjoys supporting actions that build community spirit and solidarity. She believes a local currency system is a “clear and mindful path to enhance the productivity and success of our community. It is a great chance to get to know our neighbors, and we can achieve our needs and advertise our own skills in a very heart-full way.”

Though raised at the southern end of Lake Michigan in a water-oriented community, Laura ended up in landlocked Colorado for more than 20 years. Delighting in the high altitude mountain life, she earned a fine arts degree and honed skills in all varieties of skiing and white water kayaking. Kayaking drew her further west, where she eventually landed in Lyle, Washington, in the oak savanna five miles off the Columbia River. She was drawn to the Gorge for its beauty, proximity to both water and mountain, and the fine growing conditions for gardening.

Laura is a licensed massage therapist in Washington and Oregon. She has an office in White Salmon, but also makes house calls for human or animal therapy. She feels animals are kindred spirits and offers plant care and pet sitting services for those planning to be away from home for a time. She is working in animal hospice and acupressure, and teaches white water kayaking, plus beginning piano and flute.

You may see Laura and her partner, John, on a dance floor wherever live music is happening. They share their love of dance over the Internet through the web forum, Gorgedance.net, and spend their RiverHOURS wherever they are accepted on gifts or services. They love the rich and diverse offerings that are available with RH and Laura says she is proud to be a member of the GLCC.
