Member Profile ~ Callie Jordan
Summer 2006

Callie Jordan moved to the Gorge in 1991 in order to have room to keep all her horses. Even though she’s since downsized from 20 acres in White Salmon to downtown The Dalles to cut back on transportation hassles, she still helps others learn to work with their own animals.
Her successful horse training program emphasizes developing a partnership between a horse
and its rider.

Developing partnerships for Callie doesn’t end with training horses. A long interest in community-building, in addition to self-sufficiency and social justice issues all led her to the GLCC. Often to be found accompanied by GLCC’s only non-human member, Tyler, she participates in nearly every potluck and gathering to take advantage of “all the great people I [can] hobnob with.”

She accepts RH for whatever you’d like to trade for them, including the Community Ed classes in beginning computer skills she teaches. There’s even a section she instructs in Spanish! In addition to horse training, Callie is also a Certified Vermicomposter (composting with worms) and sells both worm and rabbit compost.

As an admitted “remodel-aholic,” she spends most of her RiverHOURS at the Gorge Rebuild-it Center, though if there’s a presentation in the CGEC film/lecture series that catches her eye she’ll use them there too.
